Baseball Facilities Improvements

Baseball clubhouse

The renovated and expanded Baseball Facilities will provide  improved team and training facilities. The improvements will include renovations to the stadium, a new press box, additional seating, modernized concession areas, and a new patio area, as well as a new entrance that will celebrate the legacy of English Field and Virginia Tech baseball. Premium seating areas for fans and a new clubhouse for the team are also among the anticipated enhancements.

Project Description and Gross Square Footage
The new 34,956 gross square foot (GSF) ball park structure includes two major levels. The main level (concourse level) is at grade to the park entry and includes a 9,929 GSF concourse area, a 9,049 GSF covered grandstand, and a 5,888 GSF covered hospitality deck area. The press box level above totals 8,435 GSF, and a small field level below the hospitality deck serves umpires and field storage, totaling 1,440 GSF. In addition, the John C. Weaver Baseball Center will be modified to create a new player experience. The entire 4,000 GSF first floor will be transformed with new locker rooms, a team meeting/video review space, an athletic training space, and laundry and storage spaces. A mechanical room addition will support the spaces while a new stair tower will provide access between the floors. On the second floor, 1,066 GSF of renovations will provide new coaches offices, dressing rooms, and showers.
