Virginia Tech, working with the New River Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization and Montgomery County, is developing the design of a “Western Perimeter Road” on the Virginia Tech campus, running from University City Boulevard at the Prices Fork Road intersection through a future intersection with the relocated Southgate Drive and Research Center Drive. Virginia Tech and Montgomery County are pursuing revenue-sharing funding through the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to design and potentially construct the first phase of this new road.
