Utilities

The Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities ensures the efficient use of resources while minimizing environmental impacts. We are focused on renewable energy sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting energy conservation practices. The division also has a utility master plan that outlines the long-term goals and strategies for the sustainable management of its utilities.

The Utilities Distribution team supports all activities relating to the central distribution of steam, chilled water, potable water, sewer, storm drain, and compressed air on the Virginia Tech campus with a high degree of accuracy required on these critical systems.  The team has a collaborative relationship with other units within the division and ensures the reliable operation of utilities through routine maintenance, emergency maintenance, and other preventative maintenance. The Utilities Distribution team installs, maintains, and repairs steam lines, valves, traps, domestic water, and sewer lines, pumps, fans, and fire hydrants.
