Real Property owned or controlled by Virginia Tech are finite, measurable, and valuable resources that require administrative oversight to ensure assets are deployed efficiently and effectively and that potential risks are properly mitigated. Space, including land, is a component of Real Property, and Virginia Tech strives to optimize the use of this resource to its full potential to appropriately serve the needs of the institution.
Provides an opportunity to evaluate space utilization proactively, identifies opportunities for optimization, and ensures spaces are aligned with the evolving needs of programs, personnel, and operations.
ABOUT THE OFFICE OF SPACE MANAGEMENT
The Office of Space Management (OSM) plays a critical role in advancing Virginia Tech's mission by ensuring the strategic, equitable, and efficient use of university space resources. The OSM centralizes space management processes, promotes transparency, and provides data-driven solutions to address both immediate and long-term space needs.
