New Construction & Major Renovations

Due to their size and cost, new construction and major renovations projects, referred to as capital projects, involve a large number of university policies, stakeholders, and resources.

The Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities is available to guide departments through this complex process. At the start of a proposed project, the exact scope may not be known. This is expected, and the division will help determine the specifications for each project.

One of the first steps in the process is to submit a proposal in the University's Six Year Capital Outlay planning process. The Office of University Planning, the University Space Committee, and the Executive Space Committee will evaluate all concepts before they are considered for approval by the President. Only those projects approved by the President can be included in the University's Six Year Capital Outlay Plan. Fundraising/development must not precede this approval.
