The Capital Construction Process
The Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities will work closely with the sponsoring college/department, the future building user(s), and other stakeholders to achieve a successful project outcome. A team of project managers who will provide management during all phases of a capital project from concept through occupancy.
After a new capital project is authorized and the initial planning is complete, the Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities will:
- Assign a project manager to lead the design and construction process and monitor the project's schedule, budget, quality, and compliance with program and quality requirements
- Provide design and construction management and construction quality assurance
- Coordinate construction activities with university operations
- Monitor specialized construction inspections/testing
The university currently uses three project delivery methods:
- Traditional method (Design-Bid-Build)
- Construction Management at Risk (CMAR)
- Design-Build (D-B)
