Description: Citizens and social, civic and church groups are invited to participate in this annual litter pick-up event. Volunteers are needed to help clean up roadsides, parks, streams, school grounds and other public properties. Why is Broomin' and Bloomin' so important? Not only is it an excellent opportunity to protect our local environment, but it's also a way to promote community pride and goodwill and help ensure that Montgomery County will be sustainable for generations to come. Every bag of trash collected makes a real difference! Volunteers pick up a ton--literally--of trash each year and have helped to clean hundreds of miles of land in the county. Also, this event is a part of the public participation efforts of our local Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Programs in Montgomery County, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Virginia Tech.

If you and/or your group is ready to volunteer, sign up! Download the Broomin' and Bloomin' Event Participation Guide.

Trash bags, gloves and safety vests are provided. Filled trash bags are picked up from the roadside or cleanup site. Please talk to your school, church, civic or scouting group and consider participating in this event. Volunteers may choose the site or select from locations needing to be cleaned.

This year, as a way to say "thank you," volunteers will receive fun giveaways for their participation!
